The Ministry of Public Works held a joint meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), CNA and ADN to discuss economic development through infrastructure. The President of CCI-TL, Mr. Jorge Serrano, as a representative of the private sector, expressed his appreciation for the Government, noting that over the past three years significant changes in infrastructure have been achieved as a result of strong efforts to improve the country. On the other hand, he also voiced his concern about rising inflation, which has led to sharp increases in merchandises prices, directly impacting the private sector in carrying out construction projects. In this regard, he urged the Government to remain attentive to the current economic and social conditions affecting the market. The Executive Director of CNA, Mr. Hermingardo Albano Soares, delivered a brief presentation on the current status of procurement services. During his intervention, His Excellency the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, stated that the Government will continue its efforts to implement the digitalization of procurement processes, in order to strengthen infrastructure development and ensure greater transparency and efficiency in public management. This initiative is part of the Government’s strategy to modernize public administration through technology. The Head of Government emphasized that the success of this transformation depends on trust, digital literacy, and continuous investment in infrastructure and human resource capacity. Looking ahead, he stressed that the Government must promote domestic investment, while the private sector also needs to create products that can be exported. He considered these points essential, noting that the meeting served to discuss existing challenges and identify solutions for improvement. He concluded by affirming that Government and the people must work together to improve Timor-Leste.
